Waking up this morning, on a cold, rainy, June?!?…. morning, I switched on socials to have a look at the highlights from the much hyped Syuri vs. Alex Windsor match – but what was overwhelmingly winning the battle for my attention was a video that if we’re being honest, we all expected at some point – it was Alex Windsor announcing that she’s not going to be around much longer on the UK scene…. because she is ALL ELITE!! – so before I get into the crux of my point let me just share my biggest congratulations to her.
IT’S OFFICIAL!

ALEX WINDSOR IS ALL ELITE!! pic.twitter.com/6c6Bk4OaiO
Alex has had to deal with a lot of things very publicly. She’s previously retired, she’s had devastating injuries and has had to have the inner strength that none of us should ever have to go through. I have told this story FAR too many times but hey, what’s one more? When I was getting into RevPro more, there were two matches on one special card in Southampton that did this for me. Will Ospreay vs. Michael Oku for the first time, and a returning Alex Windsor vs. champion Gisele Shaw. Alex was a name I knew by reputation from friends, so I was excited to be able to see her in action. What transpired that night was a match that was beyond my wildest dreams of just how good she was, and frankly the only other time I can recall become THAT enamoured with a wrestler the first time I’d ever seen them by that point was Will Ospreay, who I saw in 2015 getting the his first win over Ricochet. She captivated me throughout and has remained the standard bearer for womens wrestling in the UK.

Since then, Alex has gone on to do incredible things. Since 2023 she’s worked AEW, CMLL, World of Sport, DPW, iMPACT, ROH, Chris Jericho’s Rock and Rager Cruise, EVE and RevPro. The list of opponents in that time include Gisele Shaw, Charlie Morgan, a fantastic 5 on 5 match with the Cut Throat Collective in RevPro, Maya Yuhiki, Toni Storm, Kris Statlander, Willow Nightingale, Thunder Rosa, Mina Shirakawa, Stephanie Vaquer, Athena, THAT Jamie Hayter match in EVE, and THAT Dog Collar match at last years Revolution Rumble (www.revproondemand.com) . The woman is on another level!
Now you’ve probably got to this point thinking, where is he going with this? Well if you’re a listener of This is a Revolution – the world’s ONLY weekly RevPro podcast, you’ll be very aware of the discussions that Dave and I have had around the Undisputed British Women’s title and who we think could walk away next with the title. We both agreed that Mercedes would lose the title at RevPro Anniversary Weekend XIII this August, with Dave favouring Kanji, and myself, Alex – with Kanji taking the title at Uprising! However with Alex saying she’s not going to be around the indies for a while, it has me entirely rethinking this scene and who is most likely to take the title and as such I am going to present some options within the RevPro scene as to who I think COULD be in the reckoning to take the title should they have a match
SAFIRE REED

The emergence of Safire Reed over the last two years is the playbook that any aspiring wrestler on the scene needs to study and follow. In RevPro, Safire grew from an up and comer who faced Dani Luna in a pretty well received, albeit losing effort at High Stakes 2024, and has grown rapidly into a performer that is well regarded by everyone and in demand by seemingly every promo – whether she’s being a little menace, a bit hyperactive or even thinking we can’t see her, we can and we can see what she brings to the table.
Mercedes Mone vs. Safire would feel like generations colliding, akin to Randy Orton coming out of SummerSlam 2004 with the world title and heading back to his Evolution team mates – however unlike Randy, Safire has all of the tools to strap that division to her back and be a fighting champion and one would assume, move into that Windsor shaped hole left in the Cut Throat Collective
LIZZY EVO

Speaking of people that have absolutely grown in front of us, Lizzy Evo has to be in that conversation. Every time she steps in the ring she has added something new to her arsenal, she is smoother, her strikes have more impact and snap to them. Lizzy falls into the camp that a lot of wrestlers with big personalities do and that is she is often overlooked for how good her skills are and how that makes her a great all-rounder.
One of the interesting parts of this for me is the battle of how we get to the match. It’s fairly safe to assume that Mercedes isn’t going to be in a RevPro ring prior to the Anniversary show – although, her recent jaunt to Austria proves you can’t rule out anything, and I HAVE heard Southampton referenced as ‘the Vienna of the South’. However for a moment let’s continue that assumption that she won’t make it, you’re going to need someone special to help carry that build into the biggest show of the year and potentially, the most high profile match on the entire card that weekend and Lizzy Evo has bags of personality. She can make you laugh, she can make you hate her. She can be sarcy, she can be bitchy, she can be viscious and vile. She is brimming with personality and has you in the palm of her hand. Case in point, I thought Lizzy was massively taller than me, she looks physically dominant when you see her so I was shocked to find her to be shorter than me – but that’s because she carries herself like a superstar and when you give her the chance to be a sparring partner for Mercedes Mone, I think you have money in the bank right there!
Additionally, the story between Lizzy and Safire now is firing in an interesting direction. There are masses of tension and does that lead to Safire trying to usurp her CTC teammate with a face turn in the process? It provides some interesting opportunities that is for sure.
PRETTY PSYCHO

Never have two wrestlers felt like they fit so well together than ‘The Fiery Flame’ Amira Blair and ‘The Beauty Wrestler’ Zoe Lucas. Both have this fun loving, vulnerable energy to them, a raw passion that shines through every time they step into the ring, and an ability to connect with the crowd in a visceral way.
Now, Amira herself has spoken on this subject and has said herself that she is putting in the work to further develop her skills in ring and while some of her contemporaries on the list may have more experience in ring in RevPro, categorically it’s safe to say two things about Amira – firstly, she is always improving and adding to her in-ring. The Pretty Psycho vs. Cut Throat Collective match in Southampton, as well as her match with Alex Windsor where she replaced an unwell Chantal Jordan are examples of where someone is putting in the work to achieve their goals, and delivering on the occasion when she is presented with the opportunity. It’s known that Andy Quildan doesn’t give opportunities ‘just because’ and while it’s still early doors for Amira in ring in RevPro, she is being booked. Leading onto point two – Amira is over and knows how to connect with people. One of the smartest people in wrestling when it comes to connecting with a crowd – whether it’s when she’s managing Oku – where in the Copper Box she made me feel like she was standing in front of the stage at the 1865 and looking directly into my eyes and willing me to cheer for Michael, promos such as the one in London in the lead up to Oku vs. Ospreay 3, or just her presence that generated a HUGE pop at the Women’s Gauntlet match in Doncaster. I mentioned that having someone who could entertain and build well in the lead up and Amira could carry a program like that!
Zoe Lucas has absolutely been adored by the crowd since returning to RevPro. When thinking of both the Undisputed British Women’s title and British representation in the women’s wrestling arena worldwide, there is a period of time where that was personified by Zoe. We know how much personality she has too. We know she can go in the ring and we know that Mercedes is a fan of wrestlers with experience in Japan, where Zoe has also done some tours.
And let me ask you this – no matter the other matches on the cards, I’m not sure any other match could elicit the emotion that either of these women could generate if the bell rang and those magical words “and NEWWWWWWWWWWWWW” ring out through Crystal Palace. It would be special.
DANI LUNA

Dani Luna’s worldwide coming out party has been a joy to watch over the last year or so. Her run as a multi-time tag team champion in TNA as part of Spitfire has seen a plethora or independents across the globe calling for her – and what looks like could be a run where Dani is likely moved into the TNA Knockout World Title scene. It is genuinely becoming a treat to see her in RevPro because her world wide demand is up there.
Of all of the matches speculated on this list, I think this has the least chance of happening – but one I’d be happy to be incorrect about. Dani won the Gauntlet match at High Stakes that many of us assumed was to determine number one contendership, but as that hasn’t been confirmed it just leaves Dani at the top of the tree but no guaranteed match. I think the dynamic in that match would be great, both wrestlers have a great technical base, with Mercedes utilising a slightly more speed based attack and Dani power and strength. A clash of styles that would make for an iconic match that would have the wrestling world talking, which I think unfortunately could be scuppered by TNA/WWE/RevPro/AEW politics. I have no doubts that if the team at RevPro could make it happen, they absolutely will do.
KANJI

We’ve seen the match already. We know exactly how good it was. We saw the crowd reaction – BOTH women got superstar reactions when they came out – hell, my FitBit entered “Zone minutes” which meant it thought I was exercising giving how excited I was for this match – and that was before they even locked up.
Now imagine all of that on the biggest show of the RevPro calendar, in a bigger venue, with the history of that first match.
It would be a defining match in the canon of RevPro and it would be the ultimate validation of a wrestler that has worked incredibly hard and become beloved as a pure babyface in the most cynical time in the history of this planet. She is the Ricky Steamboat of Brit Wres and nobody deserves to win it more.
Well, unless……….
.... ALEX WINDSOR?

My opening gambit for this article was that given Windsor’s news, I didn’t think she would be around much and things would ultimately wrap up very soon.
But……. what if they didn’t?
I just want to preface this one by saying that I don’t want to speculate too much on the personal life and what the future might look like for Alex in terms of schedule etc. Real life, family and health always come first and whatever happens, I’ll always be thankful I’ve been able to see her wrestle so much. With that in mind, if there WAS a way to wrap up her RevPro run over the rest of the year that works for everyone – including her real life priorities too – then THIS is my pick!
Quite simply from Day 1, I always felt Alex would be the one to take the title from Mercedes. I always felt she was AEW bound and therefore this felt like a logical and sensible match from that perspective – if you have someone beat Mercedes well let it be a signing for your company. Now, add into this the calibre of matches she’s been having – specifically that Jamie Hayter match in EVE. Yeah? Well, imagine her against Mercedes. It would be pure magic against one of the best out there right now. It’s a marquee match that would deserve to headline either match of the weekend.
Looking into this even more closely, this would also be the last chance Windsor would have to be a dastardly heel. Dave and I have spoken about this a few times and the question has been – do you want another Alex Windsor run so soon? Now that sounds damning I know, but really it was because of how well the women’s division in RevPro has grown in that time period and coupled with the monstrous run she had with the belt, it felt like interesting stories could be told without the belt – however – for me this was always about what comes next rather than just giving her the belt. Alex Windsor as a somewhat transitional champion sounds like a wild ploy, but I would have her be the champ right through to Uprising – Kanji vs. Windsor. THE feud that needs to happen and cap off this incredible run we’ve been blessed with in RevPro. Give her her 3 to 4 months where she can be the ultimate villain that she can channel so well, give her those final matches and have her put over one of her biggest rivals in the main event – capping off an amazing run and elevating Kanji to championship status in the process. As happy as I will be for Kanji if she is the one to beat Mercedes, this feels like it would be just as special and even more personal.
